Peace through Prayer

As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God (Psalm 42:1 NKJB).

There is a difference between praying our prayers & really praying.  We should want a relationship with God above anything else in the world.  Most people pray without really wanting intimacy with God.

I thirst for God, the living God, When can I come and stand before him? (Psalms 42:2) - Do you want God that much?  Be honest.  Talk to God about how you are really feeling!  That kind of honesty in prayer will pave the way for God to heal the real needs & not just take care of the whims.

Use Psalm 42 as a model on how to pray to God.  This will lead you into deeper levels of prayer.  Let the steadfast love of God draw you back to the loving arms of the Father.  Remembering what God has done in your life will lead you to expect answers to your prayers.

Praise opens the heart.  The more we praise God,  the more willing we are to accept the next strategy for our life.   Make today a day where we bless God with praise even through all the perplexities of our life.  You don't need to be anxious when you can turn over all your problems to the Lord of the universe.  Your prayer should be an honest statement of your need, then thank God for hearing your prayer & know that he will act for your ultimate good.

Peace will flood our hearts.  Christ will guard our hearts from anything that would distress us.  Prayer is a time to meditate on positive thoughts about Christ & what He is able to do with our problems.   Just as the deer depends on water, we depend upon God.

If you seek Him & long to understand Him you will find eternal life.  If you feel separated from God don't rest until you have restored your relationship with Him...know that your very life depends on it.

Psalm 42: 5 & 6 -  Why am I discouraged? Why so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again...my Savior & my God!  Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember your kindness...from Mount Herman, the source of the Jordan, from the land of Mount Mizar.

Depression is one of the most common emotional ailments.  One help is to focus on God's record of goodness to you. Take your mind off your present situation & focus your thoughts on God's ability to help you rather than your inabilities to help yourself.   If you find yourself depressed read the Bible accounts of God's goodness to His people & meditate on them.

Wrap your mind around the positive power of God...this will give you peace.
